Bradley Duggan Mrs. Murray English II-2 Due 10/03/17 The Outsider Phenomenon In life, it is a universal reality that there will be those in society who are not accepted as others are. This can be due to race, intelligence, personality, beliefs, and an infinite amount of other reasons. Individuals such as these are known by many monikers: outsiders, outcasts, pariahs, strangers, aliens, and more. All these terms describe vaguely the same type of being; one who, for whatever reason, is not accepted in normal society. However, these outsiders are not worthless, pitiful mistakes who deserve to be cast out of life the way they have. These individuals are misjudged by others who do not or can not, understand them. Overall, outsiders areâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Another example of a misjudged outsider in literature is Severus Snape from the iconic Harry Potter series of novels by J.K. Rowling. Throughout the series, Snape is seen as a villain with ill intent by the protagonists. However, it is not until the final book of the series, Harry Potter and t he Deathly Hallows, that his true motivations are revealed. Snape was, in fact, one of the main heroes of the entire series. Everything he did was done in order to protect Harry, as Snape was in love with Harryââ¬â¢s mother. Yet, due to his persona, Harry and his band of misfits misjudge Snape as an evil, spiteful man, and cast him off. Another example of a misjudged outsider turned hero in literature is Arthur ââ¬ËBooââ¬â¢ Radley, of Harper Leeââ¬â¢s infamous To Kill A Mockingbird. Throughout the novel, Boo is seen as a kind of mythical boogeyman. This is until Boo saves the main characters from a drunken assailant, and probable death. Boo, who likely had a mental disorder, became an outsider due to most individuals misjudging him as a monster when this could not have been further from the truth. All in all, there are numerous examples of characters being misjudged and turned into social pariahs in literature. Animal Testing Should Be Made A Better Society For People
Animal testing has many advantages that have made a better society for people. Animal testing can be defined as, ââ¬Å"the use of non-human animals in research and development projects, esp. for purposes of determining the safety of substances such as foods or drugsâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Dictionary 1â⬠). Animal testing is literally how it sounds to others. Animals are being tested on in order to try different products made by scientists in order to better the society. One advantage of animal testing is that animal testing has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments. The California Biomedical Research Association states that almost every medical breakthrough in the last century has directly resulted from the use of animals. Insulin was discovered with a lot of different experiments in which dogs had their pancreases removed from their body. This was critical because it began to save people from having diabetes. Animal research has also played a role in major advances of understanding and treating conditions such as breast cancer, brain injury, malaria and tuberculosis. The Director of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center s Animal Research Facility, Chris Abee, states that we would not have a vaccine for hepatitis B without chimpanzees, and says that the use of chimps is our best hope for finding a vaccine for Hepatitis C, which is a disease that kills 15,000 people every year in the United States (Animal Testing 1). Mechanical power generation as seen above exclusively uses machines which are rotating and moving through reciprocating movement like the pistons, this help in generation of mechanical power which is highly important in the aircraft. Electrical power makes use of the reaction of chemicals which in deed help in the generation of electrical power. The efficiency in mechanical is the best followed by fluid and lastly the electrical power. Generated fluid power is transported in the fluid which those of the mechanical are transported fluid and electrical is transported with the help of wires from the point of generation to the point of application. Electro-hydraulic servo configuration The servos output is connected to the transducer to convert it to an electric signal with feedback signal being compared with the command signal. The error that exists is amplified using a regulator and electric power amplifier and input in the control signal going into servo valve. Fluid flowing into the actuator is controlled by servo valve proportioning it to drive current from the power amplifier. The load is then forced to move by the actuator(Poynor, 2015). A signal error is caused by command signal change that makes the load move to prevent the error. A high amplifier gain rapidly and more accurately varies on the command signal. The load can move due to external disturbances. To prevent this, the actuator input is put in opposite direction providing finite error system which is minimized during high amplifier gain. However, the gain has limitations due to stability considerations(Helmreich, 2012). The dynamic pressure feedback is applicable as at low frequencies it works as position feedback. Advantages of Electro-hydraulic system Speed the actuator speed can be realized by various invented methods. These methods include; large pump fitting, use of hydraulic accumulators or use of integral spring pack. These EHA have a manufacturing ability to move valves that require a thrust of up to 900 kg to a distance of 60mm in a duration of 45 ms. The actuator speed, therefore, varies to a great degree even independent of the load or the torque applied. This is contrary to the electro-mechanical devices where the greater the load, the slower the variation of speed(Sheehan, 2016). Accuracy the EHA has a positional accuracy of around 5 microns. This issue to the accurate position control from the hydraulic with almost incompressible hydraulic oil. Generated forces due to the use of almost incompressible oil, there is a reduction in the size of the component for generating great amounts of force. Ultra low power EHA efficiently convert electrical power into useful work with the fitting of a low power position controller. Disadvantages of EHA Any allowable tolerance will lead to higher cost of hydraulic components. At the same time, this demonstrates that she is troubled and disappointed in those ancestors who made it such a struggle for the rights of the people. The raging river of tears represents the struggle that the poets ancestors endured to arrive at the point that she enjoys today. The figure of speech is a metaphor. The grand canyon of light represents the rights that she enjoys and treasures in America. Light indicates the goodness and the freedoms that she enjoys. With the expression humility has buoyancy, Ani is saying that her own modesty and humbleness is uplifting for her at the times that she is struggling most, and most depressed in her own life. She believes in protecting and achieving those rights and freedoms for everyone in the world. The historical event she discusses is the 9-11 tragedy. She recalls the burning smell, the smoldering wreckage and red white and blue flashing lights, and finally, the hand you can trust laid steady on your chest. These appeal to the readers senses of smell, sight and touch and the views that many readers will recall from the television coverage of this sad event in U.S. history. Appendices Executive summary This report was commission by the COE of Apple Inc. together with his executive team to seek recommendations for the production of low cost laptops to be used in the wor ld countries and the collected funds to be used in the awareness of American masses on obesity health implications. This report provides an analysis and an evaluation of the prospective production of the low cost laptops by Apple Inc. and the health focus. The methods used for the collection of information include the use of questionnaires and surveys to identify the feasibility of this project. The research draws attention to the fact that there is an extensive use of laptops in the third world counties from education to working class. Low cost laptops will be a viable project in the third world countries as they have a low buying power considering the high current costs of laptops which are mostly priced at over $1000. Further investigation reveal that the money collected from the sale of the low cost laptops will be highly effective in the creation of obesity awareness in America. The report concludes that laptops are highly needed in the third world countries especially in the e ducation sector and the corporate world. Communication and the use of internet will have a high impact on the application of low cost laptops in the third world countries. It is recommended: That Apple should adopt the project of producing low cost laptops in the third world countries. That Apple should conduct a survey to identify the programs which are effectively suitable for the application of laptops. That educators in third world countries should partner with Apple to offer suitable learning experiences for the intended users. Report Plan 1. Recipient of the Report The recipient of the report will be the top management including the CEO of Apple, Inc. the plan will be presented to all those officials who have some role to play in decision making matters. 2. For example, in our interpersonal communication class we get to share a lot on our relationships and family. I did not only share my story on life with others, but got to listen and reflect on their stories. This helped in giving me a new perspective on life. We should not always be confined to our own ways and imagine that we are always right. Secondly, on numerous occasions in math class, we are given a word problem to solve. In order for one to find a solution, you are expected to figure out the best system in which to solve the question. I doubt this would be possible for me without critical thinking. It takes patience for one to critically analyze a maths problem and come up with a solution (Cottrell, 2011). In addition, in college, no one does the scheduling for you anymore. The choice is left to you. This poses the challenge of ensuring that you use the time you have as well as possible. Otherwise, a whole semester would go by so fast, and before you realize it there is so much that you still have not done.
